Tamada in Georgian culture is traditionally a man who sits at the head of the table, proposes toasts, and presides over the feast. He is chosen for his eloquence, storytelling ability, and capacity to drink large amounts of alcohol. The Tamada also invites guests to continue the toasts and, ultimately, announces the end of the celebration.
